Air Tahiti History 

The history of Air Tahiti is closely linked to the history of aviation in French Polynesia. Far from the continents, Tahiti and her islands were away from air routes for a long time. It was not until the Second World War that aviation really took off, with the construction of the first airstrip, in 1943, in Bora Bora, by the US military. Our company, which has been serving the different islands for more than 65 years now, started with RAI seaplanes, then Air Polynesia, before finally becoming Air Tahiti…
